Burn Baby Burn

Paper does not go in the trash over here. Whenever we're done with it, it goes in a box under the desk, and when the box is full, we take it out to the barrel and burn it. This happens about once every couple of weeks. Dave, our mid-shift forecaster, usually takes care of it. Last night, he was out there at the burn barrel for nearly an hour (the box was pretty full of paper).

I took a couple of pictures ... of course.

I like the one above best, because it told a more complete story.

However, I did also catch a few where the flames were a bit more dramatic:

Big Flame

I probably won't be on mid-shift anymore the next time the burn box gets full, so this will have to serve as my memory of the barrel of fire.

  1. hi Todd,
Cool photos! Thanks for taking the time to turn them into a post. Do they always do the barrel burn at night? Fire is so much more dramatic in the dark.... hope I'm not sounding like a pyromaniac. :)
Hope all is well "over there" and that you can get back "over here" soon.

  2. Hey Steve !

Thanks for popping in ... glad you like the pictures. As for the burn barrel, we have done it during the day before, but most of the time the night guys take care of it ... and I agree, that's a good thing because it makes for more interesting viewing :-)

I've got about a month left "over here" ... looking forward to getting home.

Hope all is going well on your end too.
